Description:

Despite the successes of the NX program the Earth Starfleet needed both easily maintained and manufactured vessels during the Romulan War.

The NX was deemed too expensive and with lengthy build times was not ideally suited to War times. The Starfleet engineers instead chose to use and develop the Daedalus Class, an efficient design with both speed due to the new warp 7 engines, and enlarged space due to the primary/secondary hull design further enhanced by the redesign of the warp core to about 50% its proposed size thus freeing up more space for ship systems or crew quarters.

Designed with both exploration and combat operations in mind the Daedalus uses an enhanced deflector array and sensor systems, and uses the newest designs on Phase Cannons and torpedo launchers.

The large spherical hull houses most of the ships systems and crew quarters as well as sick bay. A central turbo lift provides access to the twelve decks of the primary hull and corridors ring the interior on each deck.
The tubular secondary hull houses the new Warp 7 engine, main deflector and also crew quarters. Secondary systems such as communications arrays and navigational deflector utilise the space provide by a secondary hull.

The vessel is the fastest ship in the Starfleet and the strongest given its design and new shield systems not to mention it armaments.
