Description:
Here is the second version of the USS Patriot an Aegis Class Starship. The second version fixes a problem with the warp nacelles where they would disappear during a battle. This ship is armed with eight forward firing torpedo launchers, four aft firing torpedo launchers, four forward pulse phasers as well as eleven type XII phaser arrays. This ship is very powerful and could potentially be a match for a Sovereign and above.

How to install

1. unzip all files.
2. Open your BC folder located at C:\Program Files\Activision\Bridge Commander
3. Copy and paste data scripts and sfx into the main directory It should all now work as I've included the custom files. If not run BCMP and
activate using the program.

Possible Bugs

Phaser arcs now fixed. Seconary warp core removed.

It has been reported of the last release that the warp nacelles sometimes vanished during heavy battles. It did this occasionally to me during
beta testing . I have now changed the script a little but don't think this was the cause (It seemed more model related to me) however it has not
happened to be at all using this new version. This model has redesigned nacelles so should elliminate this problem if it is model related.

Starship History - Backstory

The USS Patriot is the second ship of the Aegis class to be built. The design was commissioned for duty in 2373 as a multipurpose platform capable of being configured for mission specific objectives with an interchangable nose pod. The first two vessels - USS Aegis and USS Patriot - were fitted with weapons pods under the nose which expanded the weapons systems by an additional 4 forward firing torpedo tubes and 4 Pulse Phaser Cannons. When the dominion threat was finally erased and the Borg had been repelled to almost none existance it was decided that the Aegis project be embraced by a more traditional mission role. That of exploration and scientific research. The next 3 Aegis class ships commisioned were fitted with an advanced sensor pod to enable high resolution long range scanning of somewhere in the region of 25 light years.

Close range scanning gives unparalleled resolution and understandably makes the Aegis (S) class a first choice posting request for science graduates.

The USS Patriot however is unique among the Aegis class. Her sister ships are posted in defence, science, or perimiter roles due to their size and ability to remain 'at sea' for very long periods of time without routine maintenance. The Patriot was assigned starfleet covert operations and last line sector 001 defence. This would put the Patriot into some of the most dangerous area's of federation intelligence, regularly assigned to intelligence gathering and enemy infiltration. Similarly some might say to Elite Force's Hazard team, the Patriot is expected to
provide multipurpose defence and assault. Where the Patriot differs from the Hazard team is that aggression isn't the preferred option. More of a return to traditional values but in a more covert theater.

The ship is 700m long but is designed to have a relatively small targetable silhouette. The bridge is located in a recess for protection, surrounded by a large hydroponics bay and arboretum. This structure also houses a backup reactor, deuterium storage and secondary warp core which provides ample power to run the standard systems in conjunction with the increased weapons demand - or sensor power on the sensor pod fitted models. The whole ship is ablative armoured however the armour is thicker in this area to help protect these backup systems. The main warp core is buried deep inside the main hull and stands little chance of a direct hit. The ship has 8 forward firing torpedo tubes, 4 aft firing tubes, 4 forward pulse phasers and 11 Type XII phaser arrays made up of 6.5 MW segments. Main saucer arrays being the most powerful as they are made up of around 110 segments each side. The forward facing shuttle bay gives better access for shuttles aproaching on an intercept course and makes tractoring items aboard a much easier task requiring very little maneuvering of the ship once the object is within tractor range.

Internal security is supplimented by holographic security personnel in extreme boarding situations. The provision of complete internal holo-emmiter coverage gives not only security advantages but also medical assistance from the onbord EMH/LMH should the main medical staff be unavailable. Warp field geometry is controlled to give improved efficiency via a larger set of field coils in the forward portion of the warp nacelles, this is evident from the characteristicly bulged leading end. Subspace field layers can be thrown out ahead of the saucer in a 25° Z axis ellipse. This configuration helps the ship to slip into subspace much more readily and allows for fine-tuned warp field manipulation through precision adjustment of the forward warp plasma injectors. As a result the Aegis class is one of the more economical starships in the starfleet and is capable of extensive sustained high warp flight, maintainable upto warp 9.6. Beyond this the ship is subject to time limits at the given warp speed, although
capable of speeds in excess of warp factor 9.97. Sublight propulsion is handled by the 6 vectored thrust impulse nozzles. The impulse system consists of 12 reactors configured with 6 either side of the rear saucer section. These 6 reactors have their output chanelled through the driver coils where the exhaust is then fed into the vectored nozzles to provide not only forward Z axis thrust but Y axis too. This gives enhanced projectile avoidance, roll capability and low orbit control.

This ship looks great. I could really see this ship in a Star Trek movie or show. Has a very 'canon' feel to it.

I like the ship, it's incredibly unbalanced.
The look might have a cannon feel, but the ship itself would never be in real Trek..
It can go over 10K, but is armed to the teeth... doesn't work like that.
And 900 quantom torpedoes and 20 tricobalt devices?!
Come on man, I like heavily armed ships, but this ship is just ridiculous.

few improvements i would make: diff torps (they look the same...except color and power), the impulse engines look somewhat as a quick afterthought as seen in screenie 2, and tone down the power (i obliterated 5 keldons and 3 galors at once with this)

Gotta agree with you dark, impulse engines look a bit tacked on.
16 torps in one run from each side... also a bit high.

i noticed while playing with the ship that the impulse is slightly off. you go to speed 9 and it takes awhiel to get to full speed but when u stop it still takes a rather long time to actually stop.
another thing i noticed is when i warp using the engage warp button that comes with KM speed and movement become very slow (yes i did press the button twice to stop the warp)

to powerfull imo but still a very nice ship

Balance indeed IS relative (e.g. overall, my ships are balanced to shoot no more than 12 torps, 6front/6back) I think it sucks to blow up an enemy on the first fly-by.

But I definitely find the design itself very sound. The internal holographic security force is an amazing idea, aside from the fact that if circumstances actually are extreme enough to warrant their use (e.g. Borg invasion, shield failure, etc.), it can
A. Be a two-edged sword. Used against you. It's all a matter of programming. (Borg scenario).
or
B. Completely fail. If the ship cannot power it's shields, I seriously doubt you would want to (or can) route the massive amount of energy needed to power all those holograms.

Now security holograms in key areas... THAT'S practical. Just as you have an EMH for sickbay, you could have a small force of... lets call them "secura-grams" protecting the bridge, or engineering from enemy invaders.

Wow. Usually I'm not such a fan of ships built in such a spindly manner, but I have to say I'm really impressed with this one. Good work!

Though in regard to the security holograms in all key areas: why not just use turrets? Or the gas systems? I'd recommend the transporter except that probably would use more power than either of them, and be far more complex as well.
OOH, or some ERH's - Emergency Redshirt Holograms. Their job is to jump in front of anyone being shot at and scream while they die. wink

I also gave it a cloaking device. "As issued" it could take out one Borg cube; now it'll take out two Rock

Looking at the cosmetic design of the ship... I can tell this is simply a Prometheus class with the ventral nacelles removed.

This ship was designed from the ground up as the subject of a graphic novel and as a result we feel a very cannon ship is the result. It was first designed way back in 1995 and until we discovered BC never became realised. It is a pleaser to finally see her in her 'real' form.

As for MJAY's comment though, you can't tell it's a Prommy at all cos it really isn't, there are no kitbashed parts on this ship. It was modelled completely from scratch in about a 3 month period, juggling the mesh all over the place to get the fluid surface just right.

Very nice, but I wish the torpedo forward torpedo launcher would have been more stream lined with the rest of the ship, more of a round turret with smooth lines or part of the hull line sweeping down to form a torpedo bay the was contiguous with the hull. The rest of the ship is really nice. Well, done and thank you. RockRockRock

News update. Currently working on a future refit model of this ship. Set 2400 ish. Completely new model, high res skins. Been away from modelling for a while due to new work commitments so getting back into it. As there are quite a few new features available these days if anyone would like to HP it for me let me know.
